Print related questions.

Sublimation is a great way to produce prints on demand but it can be sensitive to the conditions of the work environment and when new batches of sublimation ink & sublimation paper are used.

If we are printing on a humid day, there may be small variations in colour than printing on a very dry day. Although all efforts are undertaken to ensure controlled and constant working environment due to the nature of the sublimation printing ink colour variations between an order or within an order are unavoidable and are usually more noticeable if your artwork is solid colours. We have custom-made print profiles to ensure print consistency but as mentioned above you may notice differences between an older order and a newer one.

Almost never. Due to the fact that we are printing on surfaces other than paper, the print colours on your final product will most likely vary from your original artwork. Even though our base products and fabric are white, slight variations can arise from piece to piece which in turn affect the print colours.

Our inks and printers each have a specific range of colours that they can produce. This is known as the colour gamut. There are some colours that are outside of the colour gamut that our printer can not actually produce. If your design includes out of gamut colours, this will cause the print to differ from your original artwork. When the printer detects an out of gamut colour, it instead prints the colour that is closest to it that it can produce. This is one of the reasons why your artwork printed item may differ from your original artwork. Screen settings and work spaces will also cause your artwork printed item to differ from what you see on your computer screen.

If you are unsure of how your artwork will print, we encourage you to purchase either a sample case or test swatch of fabric before going ahead with larger orders.

When we print with sublimation, the fabric is heated up to very high temperatures so the print can transfer. During this process, if there are small pieces of dust or fluff on the fabric which, as you can imagine is unavoidable when working with fabrics, the dust or fluff will be fused into the fabric during the transfer. In most cases you will not even see these tiny marks. It is mainly only noticeable when the print either has large solid areas, or a lot of white space. Since it is impossible to control the tiny dust particles, there is an allowance considered passable when we are quality checking the print. The fabric in which you will notice dust marks the most is our velvet, the reason being this napped (fluffy) fabric will trap the most dust. We certainly order reprints when the amount of dust particles is unacceptable but please be aware that this is a limitation in sublimation printing.

Sublimation is ideal for bright prints and detailed images. While it is possible to print solid black with sublimation, it’s not specifically what the process is meant for.The best way to turn a fabric solid black will always be by dyeing it. If you are designing images with solid black colour areas we can certainly still print it, just expect the black to not have as much depth as a if it were dyed black

There is no such thing as white ink in sublimation. The white in a design will be the colour of fabric that it is printed on. So if you sublimate onto a grey fabric, all the white in your image will be grey. Since fabric can vary from roll to roll, please expect to see some variations of the white base from order to order, or even within an order. While our suppliers are great for consistency, some small differences are expected. Also, please expect that our different fabrics will have varying colours of white. So a product ordered in one fabric will most likely have slightly different print results in a different fabric.

There is no white ink in sublimation prints. Any white in a design will be the base colour of the fabric it was printed on. For example, if you print on grey fabric, all of the white elements of the design will be grey in the finish product, and all the colours would be dulled due to being added to the grey base.Sublimation printing must always be done on white fabric to achieve the truest-to-design results.
